Hong Kong

Hong Kong Baptist University:  Professor Lau Sing is interested in bringing a group of Hong Kong students to Arizona, as part of a summer program.  Students may be part of an extended version of the regular DISCOVER summer program.  Some ideas under consideration include holding at least part of the program at the Biosphere II Center, on the outskirts of Tucson, and the program might also include a trip to the Grand Canyon.  Dr. Maker also will be writing a couple of chapters for Dr. Sing's upcoming book.

The Creative Initiative Foundation:  Tom Osgood, as a representative of the foundation, is interested in establishing DISCOVER-based model schools in Hong Kong.  The schools would emphasize creativity, problem solving, and multiple intelligences.

Witts Education Centre:  DISCOVER is participating in discussions with Rosemary Barrett about developing cooperative programs, both in Hong Kong and Mainland China.  Mrs. Barrett has been commissioned to start a model school on the Chinese Mainland, in Ningbo (Zhejing Province), and a center for gifted students in Hong Kong.  DISCOVER may partner with her in either or both projects, integrating Assessment and Curriculum components.
