Supplemental Training for Observers & Trainers 

     DISCOVER offers supplemental training for a variety of topics.  In some cases, this training is organized into a seminar, held in Tucson, if there is sufficient need in a particular area.  Otherwise the training is customized to meet the needs that arise.  For example, a district might wish to organize an on-sight series of curriculum, assessment, or computer skills trainings, to jumpstart a new grant program.  Some of the available training options include:

• Former Observer Update—Observers who have not conducted an Assessment for more than two years and wish to be re-certified might need supplemental training in addition to the regular re-certification process

• Additional Training for Current Observers—Current Observers can further improve their skills in areas of need or interest, to qualify for certification or for general interest

• Enhancement of Computer Skills—We offer assistance in a variety of computer related software applications for those needing to improve computer skills.  Some of the most common areas include presentations, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and Windows operations.

     In Tucson:  $165 per day, per person

     On-site, in your school or community:  $400 plus travel expenses per half-day or $800 plus expenses per full day, if conducted by DISCOVER staff member; $500 plus travel expenses per half-day or $1,000 plus expenses per full day, if conducted by Dr. Maker.  Half-day trainings must be within a 200 mile radius of Tucson or must be accompanied by an additional full or half-day DISCOVER service.  On-site trainings can accommodate several people at the same time, but some size restrictions may exist, depending on the kind of training being performed.  Check with a DISCOVER staff member for specifics.

     International:  Fees at locations outside of the continental U.S. will vary, depending on the distance and circumstances.  Please contact the DISCOVER office for a customized rate plan.
